Lighter color around the eye is
characteristic of the Common Loon in non-breeding plumage. Loons
are a very entertaining bird to watch and photograph, especially
as winter turns to spring and they molt into their breeding
plumage. Our Spring on the Bay page will feature Loons in
breeding plumage.
