Elegant Tern and Royal Tern

Sterna maxima
Terns and Gulls
preening on a sandspit beach. What is interesting about this photo
is the side-by-side comparison it offers between the bills of the
two types of Terns. The Elegant Tern in the foreground has a thinner
bill with a paler tip than the Royal Tern just behind it. An
Immature Royal Tern with the yellowish bill is sitting between the
two.
