Black-bellied Plover
Pluvalis squatarola
Largest of the North American Plovers,
Black-bellied Plovers are a common sight on the estuary throughout
the summer. They seem to favor the marsh area and perch on the
oyster rafts south of Chorro Creek. This bird appears to be moulting
out of its breeding plumage.
