Late in November of 2007, Orchid Outriggers had the
pleasure of taking Bridget Stafford and Gerald and Buff Corsi out on
the estuary. Bridget had arranged the outing and the three were able
to spend a day with us after attending a week of class at the
Lepp Institute
of Digital Imaging here in Los Osos.
We were treated to a fine day, just before the first
of this season's procession of winter storms started marching in
from the North Pacific. We launched three canoes mid-morning and
paddled from Baywood to Coleman Beach, taking advantage of the
hundreds of photographic opportunities that the length of the bay
offers.
At Coleman Beach, we put the boats ashore and took a
short walk to one of Morro Bay's great seafood restaurants and sad
down for a wonderful lunch. Refueled, we walked back to the
outriggers and paddled back to Baywood. The paddle was about two
hours in each direction, with an hour of food and conversation
in-between. The weather was perfect; a great time being had by all.
Jerry is a native of San Francisco. He attended
dental school and continued on in the oral surgery program at UC San
Francisco. Taking an early retirement to pursue wildlife
photography, he and his wife started "Focus on Nature, Inc.," a
stock photography company which provides digital stills and video of
flora and fauna from around the world. Shortly after paddling with
Orchid Outriggers, they were headed on a photographic expedition to
Antarctica!
Their work can be seen in numerous books, magazines,
calendars and on the web. Visit their site at
AGPix to see more.
Here are some of the images Jerry captured during
the paddle.
