Morro Bay Estuary's Extraordinary Birds
Photographed from Orchid Outriggers

Clark's Grebe
Aechmophorus clarkii

Clark's Grebe was, until recently, considered to be a population of the Western Grebe. Considered now to be a distinct species, it is best recognized by the face pattern, which shows white around the eye, and the yellow-orange bill.
