Great Blue Heron
Ardea herodias
We at Orchid Outriggers are trying to
find any bird in the estuary that does not photograph well against
pickleweed. Will, I guess we'll have to cross GBH off the list. For
those of you who might ever consider approaching a wounded or
cornered Great Blue, consider the tale of the bird that drove its
beak through a pine oar with such force that it protruded two inches
out the back side. They don't call it herodias for nothing.
