Morro Bay Estuary's Extraordinary Birds
Photographed from Orchid Outriggers

Snowy Egret
Egretta thula

Fishing in the shallows, this adult bird appears to be using its long plumage as a lure, wiping it back between his legs while poised to strike. It also appears that he is shading the water in the target area with his wings for less reflection and better visibility.
