Pelagic Cormorant
Phalacrocorrax pelagicus

We see smaller numbers of the Pelagic Cormorant as compared to the Double-crested and generally they are seen towards the northern or harbor-mouth ends of the bay. Smaller and thinner than the Brants or Double-crested Cormorants, they are also uniformly dark - almost black - in color. Springtime breeding plumage reveals a white patch on the birds' flank, just behind the wing.
