Marbled Godwit
Limosa fedoa
Always a great bird
to photograph, nice light shows the beautiful plumage to good
advantage. The flock in the estuary seems to number in the many
hundreds, if not over a thousand birds at some times of the year.
Godwits are tolerant of a quiet, respectful
approach and go about their daily routine, paying the canoe or
camera very little mind. The standing on one leg is typical of all
shorebirds and, probably, most birds in general to some degree or
another.
