Harbor Seal
Phoca vitulina
The most numerous
pinniped in the Morro Bay Estuary - the most numerous pinniped in
the world, for that matter. The population in the estuary seems to
hover at about 50 animals. Very alert and curious, they like to
follow the canoes and, on occasion, approach surprisingly close.
